Part A

Assignment One

Answer the following questions in about 500 words each (wherever applicable). Each question carries 20 marks.

1. Discuss descriptive and inferential statistics.

2. Compute Range, Average Deviation, Quartile Deviation and Standard Deviation for the following data: 45, 40, 37, 41, 50, 54, 54, 55, 57, 59

Assignment Two

Answer the following questions in about 100 words each (wherever applicable). Each question carries 5 marks.

4. Explain the concept of percentile and percentile rank.

5. Explain frequency polygon with suitable example.

6. Compute z score for X = 55 for the following data: 40, 50, 56, 60, 70

7. Compute mean and median for the following data 40, 43, 44, 48, 52, 53, 57, 58, 60, 62

8. Describe the properties of Normal Probability Curve (NPC).

Instructions:

5. Tutorial should be handwritten.

Activity 1: Collect data from 50 individuals (25 males and 25 females) on two continuous variables for example, weekly study hours and average nightly sleep hours. Record the raw data in a tabular form, including participant sex, study hours, and sleep hours. For the male and female groups separately, and for the combined sample, compute the measures of central tendency (mean, median and mode) and measures of variability (standard deviation) for both variables.

Activity 2: Take any one block of your choice from BPCC104 and write a review of the same in about 500 words. The review needs to be in your own words and should cover the important aspects of the block.
